Why did America fail in Afghanistan? Time for a reckoning

One thing that immediately strikes you in Kabul: where are the Americans? I saw a convoy of Turkish armoured vehicles flying the Turkish flag. The very notion of an American convoy with the American flag seems laughable. The massive embassy is inaccessible. Visitors fly directly from the airport to the roof.
